Philip Thomas & Staff
Upon return to Australia Philip undertook a fellowship in Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery at the Royal Women’s Hospital, working as staff specialist before entering private practice. He now trains other specialists and senior registrars in the same field, and is a trainer for the Monash Medical Centre gynaecological endosurgery programme and preceptorship courses.
Philip has worked as a consultant at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Box Hill Hospital and Sandringham Hospitals, and works in Leongatha (rural Victoria) in gynaecology and infertility. A Masters Degree in Reproductive Medicine was completed through UNSW in 2011.
One of his main roles now is to supervise and mentors specialists in training: Dr Thomas is Chairman of the RANZCOG Surgical Skills Training Group.
His main areas of practice are infertility, endometriosis and its surgical treatment, menstrual disorders and minimally invasive (“keyhole” or laparoscopic) surgery.
It is Philip’s passion to ensure that you get the best surgical and gynaecological treatment, based on up to date techniques, latest technologies and evidence based practice.
He has a consultant appointment at Monash Medical Centre and is an examiner for the College of Anaesthetists. A careful and caring anaesthetist, his objective is to get you through surgery as easily and comfortably as possible using the best and latest techniques and drugs. Gynaecologist Trainees
